Nursery Update!!!!

We’ve changed our plans quite a bit in regards to the nursery. Where we started out with grey, yellow and white furniture with accents of pink or navy blue…. We’re now going with grey, Peter Pan green, espresso colored furniture and Peter Pan accents.

I cannot even begin to tell you how thrilled I am about this new plan. I had a feeling that the old plan was just missing *something* even though I couldn’t put my finger on it since I loved the theme.

When we found out our baby was a little guy this just came to me. When I was younger my best friend and I were obsessed with Peter Pan. We watched all the Peter Pan-y movies….the animated version, Hook, the real life people Peter Pan, etc. There’s something about it that’s just magical.

These are my inspiration pictures at the moment, all found on Pinterest:

I love this one for the colors. That’s the exact green that I’d like to accent in…

This is our crib.

We will be getting this print in the largest size and framing it for one of the walls.

And I’d like to use these quotes, along with other quotes from the movie/book to do a gallery wall. They won’t look like they do in these pictures, we’ll format them differently. These are just the quotes that I’ve come across so far.

My mom and I will be making the crib bedding ourselves since I’m picky J

Now that we have a plan that I REALLY LOVE I cannot wait to get started and actually do some of these things! Unfortunately we’re in a big of a housing situation limbo but it’s looking good for us to be in a place within the next few weeks. Fingers crossed!

Half Baked!

How far along? 20 weeks (and 1 day J)

Total weight gain: 15+…I’ve stopped adding it up to make a total. I’m exercising as well as I can and I’m eating healthy (a good majority of the time) so I’m trying not to stress about it. I have a feeling the final number will be pretty high though and that really does scare me.

Maternity clothes? Almost all of the time. I have a non-maternity maxi skirt that I’ve been wearing a lot but it’s really stretchy so it works really well.

Stretch marks? I don’t think I have any new ones but the old ones on my hips/sides are definitely more visible. None on my tummy yet. Still using cream religiously even though I know that ultimately I am doomed.

Sleep: Still not so good. Definite hip pain has me tossing and turning and lately I’ve had problems falling back asleep after my pee breaks in the middle of the night. Oh well. Luckily I haven’t become a raging B from the lack of sleep which is how I usually react to not being rested. Small victories!

Best moment this week:  Registering was surreal, our vacation was obviously amazing and I’ve really enjoyed talking about names with Josh this week.

Miss Anything? Nothing.

Movement: Getting a little stronger but I expected it to go from light to really noticeable pretty quickly. I think my anterior placenta is the cause for the slower progression.

Food cravings: Smoothies! I’ve had one for breakfast every morning this week. Almond milk, strawberries, banana, a little peanut butter protein powder, spinach, some flax and blenddddddd.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Eggs off and on.

Gender: Bouncing baby BOY!

Labor Signs: None!

Symptoms: Still heartburn, hip pain and mega emotions.

Belly Button in or out? In and I’m not sure it’ll ever come out. I have a pretty deep belly button.

Wedding rings on or off? On! I’m getting nervous though. It’s getting HOT here and my rings are feeling a little snug today
L

Happy or Moody most of the time:
Happy happy happy! Feeling overwhelmingly blessed that we’ve made it halfway.

Looking forward to:

24 weeks!!!!!

A Break from Reality

Last weekend Josh and I headed to Newport Beach for the 3-day and we came back as new people. Josh has been under a lot of stress at work (changing routes, reorganizing, etc.) and that combined with baby stuff and trying to find somewhere to actually live (ahhhhh) has really been wearing us down. We wanted a weekend to just really enjoy this stage of our life without a bunch of outside worries and that’s what we got. We spent a lot of the weekend relaxing, exploring and just appreciating each other. I didn’t take a bunch of pictures but these will give you a glimpse of our weekend….

In other news, I am 20 weeks pregnant today. That’s 5 months. Wow. I am alternating between disbelief that we’ve made it this far and an overwhelming sense of thankfulness. I’ll post a 20 week update later today or tomorrow!

19 weeks (and some change)

How far along? 19 weeks

Total weight gain: 15+

Maternity clothes? Almost all the time. I’ve also been wearing some old, loose sundresses though that are still really comfy.

Stretch marks? Still no new ones but the ones on the sides of my stomach/hips from puberty are becoming more visible. It’s only a matter of time.

Sleep: Not great. Hip pain makes me really uncomfortable and tossing/turning all night trying to get comfy.

Best moment this week:  Our anatomy scan was absolutely amazing. It was such a fun time to share with Josh!

Miss Anything? Nothing.

Movement: Still just occasional (at least once a day though now) and light which I think is to do with my anterior placenta. Really exciting though. I can’t wait until it’s consistent and STRONG.

Food cravings: Salad. Weird? I’ll take it!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Applesauce again. I’ve had to use it in a few recipes this week and I have to hold my breath when I’m scooping it out of the jar.

Gender: Bouncing baby BOY!

Labor Signs: None!

Symptoms: Heartburn, hip pain…really emotional. The season finale of Modern Family really got to me.

Belly Button in or out? In and I’m not sure it’ll ever come out. I have a pretty deep belly button.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or Moody most of the time:
Happy happy happy!
Looking forward to:
4:30pm today (less than 2 more hours!!!). Josh and I are headed out of town for the 3 day weekend on an early anniversary (our actual anniversary isn’t until June 19th) trip/babymoon! We’re going to Newport Beach and I’m looking forward to just being able to relax. When we get back we’ll be apartment searching because it’s time for me to nest!

Unofficial bump picture in messy room...I am sooo glad that I saw our little guy just a few days ago and that he's growing well because if I didn't *know* that was true I'd be obsessing over the fact that I don't feel like my bump is growing big enough!

Little fingers and little toes

This afternoon we had our anatomy scan. Going into it I was terrified. Thoughts like....What if since my OB never actually measures the baby isn't growing and we just didn't notice yet? What if my cervix all of a sudden became stinted? What if one of the organs is growing wrong?

Luckily, none of these things actually happened. Baby is measuring either right on or ahead (I'm 18w6d and his head is measuring at over 20 weeks....oh gosh) and he is adorable. Josh was able to come with me and for the whole half hour ultrasound we were basically mesmerized. At one point the tech switched to 3D and we got to see him sucking his thumb, trying to put his hand in his mouth, rubbing his eyes and doing contortionist tricks with his feet going over his head. He's basically adorable :)

After the tech took a bunch of pictures and checked everything out the perinatologist came in and went over everything. I told her about my progesterone/cervix fears and she basically called me one of "those" worrying patients. Oddly, that made me feel better. She thinks that I have no reason to worry.

All in all, it's been a good day. And here's our little fella :)

18 Weeks!

How far along? 18

Total weight gain: 13. Gah.

Maternity clothes? Love them! Especially dresses and shorts.

Stretch marks? Still no new ones.

Sleep: A lot of weird dreams but sleeping like a rock! I'm still getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom but I'm able to fall back asleep right away.

Best moment this week:  Finding out that we're having a SON!!! We've also been looking at houses. We put an offer in on one today that we absolutely love...fingers crossed :)

Miss Anything? Nothing.

Movement: Yes!! Bubbles and bubbles and bubbles. I even feel little kicks here and there and I love them. I smile every time and I don't think that it'll ever get old.

Food cravings: Nothing in particular this week actually. I kind of feel like cookies most of the time but that hasn't really stopped and it's not an overwhelming craving so I haven't given in yet.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Even the thought of mashed potatoes. Yuckkkkk.

Gender: Bouncing baby BOY!

Labor Signs: None!

Symptoms: Heartburn every day. Not super comfortable.

Belly Button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? On! I'm getting really nervous about it though since it's getting really hot and my hands tend to swell even when I'm not pregnant.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Very happy with random emotional breakdowns.

Looking forward to: Seeing my older sister, her husband, my niece and her son this weekend! I'm also really looking forward to our anatomy scan next Tuesday, Josh will be able to come and we'll get to see our little fella for a nice long time!

Please ignore the fact that my butt has grown even more than my belly!!

Color me surprised!!!

Because we are team BLUE!!!! We have a bouncing baby boy coming in October :) I almost fainted right there in the doctor's office....seriously about passed out. And I am absolutely THRILLED. Josh is a very proud daddy. What a surprise!

I've been waiting for today...

...basically since the second line on the wondfo turned pink.

In less than 2 hours we find out if our little one is a boy or a girl, assuming the baby cooperates!

My old wives tale results come in like this:

Carrying high = girl; carrying low = boy: GIRL
-140+ bpm = girl; 140 or less = boy: GIRL
-Craving sweets = girl; craving sour = boy: GIRL
-Chinese gender chart: GIRL
-breaking out = girl; great skin = boy: GIRL
-morning sickness = girl; little to no morning sickness = boy: GIRL
-craving fruit = girl; craving meat & cheese = boy: BOY
- SO put on weight = Girl: BOY

Any guesses? :)

17 Weeks Bump Picture

I didn't take one before my post yesterday but last night I dragged Josh outside right as it was threatening to get dark and we took pictures. I was determined to actually take the bump picture right at the 17 week mark. So here's the bump in all of it's glory. And I'm not even holding the shirt down at the bottom in the picture, bump is just clearly noticeable in normal clothes now. Yay!

Progesterone Update

Just a little refresher. On April 13th when I was still on both PIO injections twice a week and daily prometrium suppositories my progesterone was at 59. That was a Friday and on the next Thursday I had my last PIO shot. I weaned down after that and was completely off progesterone by Tuesday, April 24th. I had my blood drawn on Friday, April 27th and it had dropped to 37.4.

Because of that drop I went back on prometrium suppositories last Monday, April 30th. I didn't take a suppository this past Sunday and I had my blood drawn again this past Monday. I got the results back yesterday and my progesterone was at 32.something. I talked to my doctor last night and she said to keep taking the prometrium every other day and that we'll re-test next Friday. I asked her if the drop was still "safe" and she said that it was since I'm still in the average range.

I'm surprisingly not freaked out about this at all. For all of you who know how progesterone works how does that number sound? Any thoughts?
How far along? 17 Weeks. 7 weeks to go until viability!

Total weight gain: 11 pounds. Baby had a growth spurt this week but I’m feeling like quite the chub!

Maternity clothes? All the time and loving it. One of my new favorites is a pair of shorts that I bought online from Destination Maternity. They're white linen and drawstring so they fit below the bump and they make me still feel kind of cute which is a plus in my book.

Stretch marks? Not yet.

Sleep: I'm sleeping like a rock. Sometimes I don't even wake up to Josh's alarm (which goes off 2 hours before mine).

Best moment this week:  On Saturday night we had dinner at my parents' house. My grandparents were there and my Uncle was visiting from out of town. I brought the doppler over with me and after dinner we all crowded into the living room, I laid down in the living room and we listened to the baby's heartbeat. It was such a special moment. My uncle, grandpa and dad were all hanging over the side of the couch, margaritas in one hand (it was Cinco de Mayo after all) and their iPhones in the other hand, recording baby. Since my grandma can't hear very well they turned the volume up on the videos they recorded and held it by her ear so that she could hear baby too. And all the while Josh was next to me, beaming like a proud daddy.

Miss Anything? Nothing.

Movement: I think so. I felt some bubbles last Wednesday and Thursday I felt what seemed like a pretty firm kick. It's just been bubbles and flutters off and on since then.

Food cravings: Nothing in particular this week. Last night I had a crazy all of a sudden craving for chocolate chip cookies but I just went to sleep instead of making them. That may be on the menu for dessert tonight.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Chicken. I gagged on it this past Friday. And I thought I was doing better…oh well.

Gender: Less than a week until we know for sure and I CANNOT wait.

Labor Signs: Nope.

Symptoms: Heartburn, sore boobs, extreme hunger! (same as last week)

Belly Button in or out? In but not deep deep in anymore.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Still happy but with more emotional breakdowns. I've had 3 in the past week and one came out of nowhere while I was on the phone with my mom yesterday. Oops.

Looking forward to: Finding out baby's gender and getting to see the little one again!

Friday Fun: Nursery Ideas!!

We don't have a house of our own right now (other than the one that we're desperately trying to rent out) I've been dreaming about our baby's nursery since we heard the baby's heartbeat (before that I was way too scared…I'm still actually kind of freaked out about it!). Hopefully we'll have somewhere soon where I can start implementing these dreams because nesting has begun to hit and I have nowhere to nest!!

Unfortunately the ideas that I have for our nursery are not totally original and my favorite nursery colors have all of a sudden become REALLY popular for nurseries but I’m sticking with it. It feels like when I was planning my wedding…it seemed like online on all of the blogs and inspiration sites that I looked at people were doing things similar to what we were doing (cupcakes instead of wedding cake, etc.) but I haven't seen any of the same things at weddings that we've been to in real life. It's the same with the nursery, I feel like it's been done a million times but none of my friends in real life have nurseries even close to what I’m thinking. So I'm trying to let myself be okay with it.

Anyway here's the actual concept. Grey and yellow with pops of pink or blue/green. I'm thinking white walls with big grey stripes and a VERY pale yellow ceiling, preferably with a white ceiling fan. I'm planning on white furniture and mixing patterns incorporating those colors. We're also going to accent with different zoo animal type things (even though that's not the theme). For example, I'd really like something giraffe-y and I'm dying for the white elephant hamper below.

Instead of trying to explain, let me show you :) These are my main inspiration pictures. Thank God for Pinterest.

The best money that I've ever spent

Our brand new doppler arrived this afternoon (I ordered it yesterday and paid for 2 day shipping, so exciting that it got here today!!) and it is seriously the best money that I've ever spent.

I was able to find our baby's heartbeat in less than 5 minutes, thumping away perfectly between 150 and 160 beats per minute. I already feel so much better!

16 weeks and 100 posts!

How far along? 16 weeks! 4 months down...crazy!

Total weight gain: 9 pounds now.

Maternity clothes? Still always. I'm still wearing my non-maternity workout clothes but I think the days of that are swiftly coming to an end too, my shirts don't stretch that much.

Stretch marks? No new ones. I can definitely see the old ones on the sides of my hips as my belly is expanding though. Oh well, I'm not too stressed about it surprisingly.

Sleep: Still loving it! I'm struggling to fall asleep since the weather has gotten a lot warmer, I need a sleeveless nightgown or something.

Best moment this week:  We had a family lunch on Sunday with cousins and aunts and uncles to celebrate my grandpa's birthday and it was so fun to be visibly pregnant and see how excited everyone was over the baby.

Miss Anything? Nothing.

Movement: I don't know...maybe?? It may just be wishful thinking but last night while I was laying down getting ready to go to sleep I felt...activity? I don't know, it felt kind of like gurgling in my lower abdomen which isn't where I feel things like indigestion normally.

Food cravings: Turkey sandwiches and pizza. Greaaat. So far I've been able to hold off the pizza craving but my sister just invited us and some other friends out for pizza tonight so somehow I think that craving will be satisfied sooner rather than later :)

Anything making you queasy or sick: Same things. Definitely more chicken...it just doesn't sound good.

Gender: We find out for sure in 13 days! We're all leaning towards girl.

Labor Signs: Nope.

Symptoms: Heartburn, sore boobs, extreme hunger!

Belly Button in or out? Deep deep in.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Still happy other than my complete mental/emotional breakdown on Monday.

Looking forward to: Trying out the doppler tonight!!!!!!

A good day

After my complete breakdown yesterday I dubbed today a GOOD day and so far it has been :)

I got up this morning and made a pretty, colorful smoothie for breakfast. It was breezy and sunny when I left for work and I wore my favorite sunglasses and heels. I tried a new salad for lunch (fiestaaaa chicken from the grocery store) and it was fabulous. Josh is having a good work day. My work day is almost over. We're going to go on a walk tonight. It IS a good day.

Oh, and I bought a home doppler. This is something that Josh swore that we'd never do but, let's face it, 4 weeks in between OB appointments is killing my nerves and with my paranoia and very active imagination I just can't handle that. So it's been shipped and should be here on Thursday.

I also took a bump picture last night. It was 3 hours after dinner so I think it was pretty legitimate bump. There are still moments where it feels like the roundness goes away and I just feel chubby but I'm becoming more and more proud of my bump as the days go on. Grow little one, please grow!
